Day 3 – A Man of Humility

1 Kings 17:1 – “….there shall be neither dew nor rain these years, except by my word.”

Only a few people have the ability to possess much power. Most people allow power to possess them into a place of character corruption. That happened to one we all know well. Power emanated from him is such a way that it made him beautiful beyond belief. Jealousy filled his heart and he thought his power was equal to that of the One who gave him his power. It was satan. Elijah knew the power and he knew where his power came from. Humility is the understanding that you possess only what God has given you. That you are nothing without Him, and you are what and who you are all because of Him. Any thoughts or motives apart from or that take any honor or glory from the Father, is the beginning of the end. Elijah knew where His power came from and never attempted to operate in any way outside of the authority of the Father’s will or desire. It’s truly a lesson our narcissistic society can learn from. You can become what you dream or desire. Self is king. You want it, you deserve it. It’s all contrary to God’s individual design. We are to become what He created us to be, not what we want to be. Humility is the contentment to be in the absolute will of the Almighty. To give up all that you desire, to live for His desire. Elijah was a man who knew that rain would be only at the desire of God. He was the vessel. Always remember that humility will be your greatest ally in life, to keep you from becoming a great failure in life.
